Win the war on stains

Stains be gone…..

Want to know a secret? I’ve found the holy grail of stain remover and it’s good for the planet and your pocket!

Over the years I have tried all the big well known stain remover brands and yes they work but I am mindful of the fact they contain chemicals and are basically both bad for humans and the planet . They are also very pricey especially when you often need to buy a separate one for whites and one for colours – clever sales ploy there Unilever! So if you want to be more environmentally friendly, reduce the toxic load in your home and save money at the same time – keep on reading!

OK I won’t keep you waiting – this wonderous product is Percarbonate of Soda (NOT to be confused with Bicarbonate of Soda which is an entirely different product!) and once you have tried it you won’t look back. This stuff is AMAZING. Percarbonate of Soda is not called ‘green bleach’ for nothing! Forget Daz, this stuff gets your whites whiter than white!

Percarbonate of soda is colour safe and fabric safe. It brightens colours and prevents fabrics from becoming yellowed or darkened. One scoop of Percarbonate of Soda can be added to a white wash and also to a colour wash so there is no need for separate products and most importantly it’s amazing for getting stains out. It has removed tomato bolognaise sauce from a white dress of my daughter’s and grease marks from my sons’ hoodies. Obviously line drying in the sunshine also helps but wow this stuff is good. I love how much it brightens your clothes.

If you need a bit more elbow grease on a stubborn stain you can pre-soak the garment in water before putting it in the washing machine.

And if I’ve not persuaded you enough by its stain removing powers, can I just mention that its ingredients are derived from raw materials (salt, water and chalk). There are no environmental hazards from using it (unlike other products which alarmingly state on their label “harmful to aquatic life”) as it simply breaks down to oxygen, water and sodium carbonate (soda ash) in your wash water.

And if you like a multi-purpose product, it has other uses beyond laundry:

· Effective stain removal on a multitude of surfaces.

· Unblock and clean a sink drain

· Toilet cleaner

Percarbonate of Soda is a must for eco-friendly cleaning and laundry.

I buy mine from my local refill shop however you can it from Amazon.

I would love to hear how you get on.
